Mary-Chris Escobar has nearly 20 years of experience working in higher education. Her student success work has focused on populations ranging from those transitioning from a GED program into community college, to undeclared first-year university students, though to graduate students enrolled in an accelerated product innovation program. She joined the Interdisciplinary Studies team in fall 2024 and is thrilled to be leading student success efforts for both IDS and the daVinci Center for Innovation. She holds a M.Ed in Counselor Education from VCU School of Education, has trained at Stanford School's Life Design Studio for Educators, and is a certified Lego Serious Play facilitator.

Mary-Chris is excited about growing the Life Design curriculum at VCU-  helping students use design-thinking to explore their purpose and get the most out of their experiences in college and beyond. She has designed her own life to include time for running, writing, and spending time with family and friends.
