Community College Transfer Initiatives
Students completing community college degrees or with other forms of transfer credits may choose any of our pathways or work with an advisor to build a unique course of study, but the following pathways have been designed for particular degrees and programs:
For students who have earned an Associate’s degree in Human Services and/or are interested in pursuing careers across a range of Human Service positions, this pathway combines BIS Core courses with coursework, minors and/or certificates in at least two of four human service clusters:
- Business & Management: for developing managerial skills for profit, nonprofit, and public enterprises, students could complete coursework or a minor in:
- Health: for developing knowledge of health and wellbeing for employment in hospitals, rehabilitation, counseling, and public settings, student could complete coursework or a minor in:
- Society: for developing knowledge of people and to serve specific communities of people, students could complete coursework or a minor or certificate in:
- Psychology
- Sociology
- African American Studies
- Gender & Sexuality Studies
- Criminal Justice
- Urban & Regional Studies
- Political Science
- Disability Studies
- Communications & Computing: for developing communication and computing skills for profit, nonprofit, and public enterprises, students could complete coursework or a minor or certificate in:

For students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies and are interested in a range of careers related to law, including nonprofit management, political advocacy, corrections, and court reporting, the “Legal Studies” pathway combines:
- B.I.S core courses
- 18 credits from an approved “Legal Studies” list, which could also include relevant coursework from the AAS degree and/or prerequisites for approved “Legal Studies” courses
- Supplemental coursework from any discipline related to individual career goals, such as business, communications, psychology, or many others (selected in coordination with advisor and subject to approval by Associate Director)
