For those interested in digital design, the following pathway combines coursework in human-centered design with psychology, sociology and more. Other pathways might include the Fundamentals of Computing Certificate or a Product Innovation Certificate. Don’t see something that interests you? Talk to an advisor and we can dream it up together.
For students interested in innovative design for real people (for example: designing products, apps, services, curriculum, etc.), the “UI/UX” pathway combines:
- BIS core courses
- Coursework in Human-Centered Design through the daVinci Center (HCDN 351, 352, 353)
- Coursework in Creative Practices from the Center for Creative Economy, especially CREA 360: User Experience Design I and CREA 460: User Experience Design II.
and, likely, one or more of the following minors and/or certificates: - Psychology
- Sociology
- Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies
- Disability Studies Certificate
- Entrepreneurship
- Marketing Insights
- Product Innovation Certificate
- Fundamentals of Computing Certificate
For students interested in applying artificial intelligence to their intended career goals, the “Practical Artificial Intelligence” pathway combines:
- BIS core courses
- the Practical AI Minor, and
- one or more minor and/or certificate relevant to career goals (examples include: General Business, Marketing Insights, Product Innovation, Health Services, Professional Writing & Editing, etc.)
For students interested in applying mixed and immersive reality to their intended career goals, the “Mixed & Immersive Reality Studies” pathway combines:
- BIS core courses
- the Mixed & Immersive Reality Studies Minor, and
- one or more minor and/or certificate relevant to career goals (examples include: Visual Effects, Mass Communications, Product Innovation, Health Services, etc.)
